Yesss!!! I wanted to put this up on January 1st to "Kick" off the New Year, but the Submit area wasn't working for me until now. :frustrated:

So ta daaa! :w00t: Over the Christmas holidays I became enamoured by tales of a small yet feisty daredevil. As a writer, I'm always on the lookout for new character types. Kick's charismatic never-say-die attitude leads him to live larger-than-life adventures in what should be a quiet suburban neighborhood. Put simply, he swept me off my feet. :sprint:

Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil is copyright by Disney. The writer, Sandro Corsano, based many of the characters and situations on memories of his childhood in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

Me, I'm merely borrowing the characters for an experiment. Someone once told me that to be the best, you have to learn from the best. I like the challenge of really absorbing a show or book--getting to know it really well, then seeing if I can immitate it well enough that my work seems like it could be the original.

What this means that you, dear reader, get to be the judge. ;)

Yes, I will have a fanfiction to go with this marvellous opening shot. :excited: But my first attempt was to try to draw the characters. I'm really actually very impressed with my quick assimilation of the artist's style. The hardest part was to draw them all the right height in comparison to each other. The most fun part was to invent their outfits. :D Only Kick and Gunthur's snow gear are cannon from the episode "Snow Day." I had to invent snow outfits for the rest of the characters.

Wackie Jackie was super easy. I took one look at her and went "overalls" with the little snow bib. I remember having to wear those. ^^; I just inverted the colours on her normal outfit. And I swear, the hat just 'materialized' on her head the second I thought "What should I do for headgear?" Especially the crazy flaps.

Mouth was pretty easy too. I gave him a military-style jacket since his dad's a mall-cop. (I did my research--I haven't even seen that episode yet!) And basically inverted the colours of his outfit because orange is a more 'snow pants' colour.

I love, love, loved doing the Goth kid's outfit. Please note the little skull pom pom on the end of his hat and the matching buttons. I confess I have also at one point owned massive black boots like that.

Kendall gave me the most trouble. Why am I not surprised? I really wanted to put her in a cute pink coat, but she also has this massive neon-pink backpack with every possible needed supply. And she just rrrr was too harsh for pink. So I went with her other colour, mint-green, but I kept the cool pattern of one of her tops for the scarf. :icontink-blsm: informs me it's called Argyle.

:boogie: :boogie: :boogie: SOOOOOO how did I do? :boogie: :boogie: :boogie:
